Overview

Coming to our cooking classes is a unique opportunity to learn how to prepare (and eat) delicious, traditional food that also happens to be whole-food, plant-based, and to discover interesting aspects of the history and culture of Brazil. It is also a great opportunity to meet young world travelers and expats living in Brazil and see this country and its amazing rich culture through our eyes.

For a start I prepared a short introduction to give you the background of the influences that shaped Brazilian cuisine. We then start by mixing the best Caipirinha you will probably drink in Brazil. Be warned! I will ruin you for the Caipirinhas at the beach or in the streets ;) After that we start preparing our food. Learn how to make Feijoada and Moqueca, Acarajé and Vatapá, Farofa and other Brazilian delicatessen. At the end we will enjoy our meal in our patio under the Mango tree.

Amazing experience! It’s not just about cooking but it’s very immersive and insightful about the culture and history of Brazilian cuisine. Juju was very warm and accommodating and her space is a heaven. My husband and I both enjoyed the cooking class and the best part: super delicious food!
Great experience

I was there with my sister, it was really an amazing night we will remember. More than just a cooking class, Juju, an amazing, smiling and smart person, explains where the ingredients are from, why the cooking is like this or like that. It's history and geography in your plate ! Then you also learn the real caÏpirinha knowledge, finally you dine with Juju and her husband, in this amazing place, and you talk about food, life, Brasil, Rio. Unique experience !
A whole experience

This was the most lovely cooking class, I have ever attended! Juju gave me the possibility to attend, even though I was the only one signed up. I was a bit hesitant of going alone at first, but Juju’s warm energy instantly made me feel safe and welcome.

We started with a little snack and kombucha, accompanied by an introduction to Brazil and its food culture. Then we made a gorgeous Caipirinha, where Juju told me all about how to choose the right ingredients and the process of making it. After that, it was time to start cooking. Since I was the only one on the course, we made one starter and one main dish, using amazing ingredients, like jackfruit and batata baroa. It was very hands on, and we had great conversations while cooking. For dinner, we were joined by her little family, and it really felt like having dinner at a new friend’s house.

I would recommend anyone (vegan or not) staying in Rio de Janeiro for a few days to go. The food was delicious, and I learned so much about Brazil and food culture in general. The view from their new home is breathtaking, and Juju is such a lovely spirit, that my only regret is that I didn’t find the class until at the end of my trip.
Memoriable experience while in Brazil

I had several adventures planned while being in Brazil for the first time and I would say cooking with the master chef JuJu was an experience I will never forget. Her attention to detail along with passion for food was good to see since I am as well passionate about food and preparation. I would recommend anyone while visiting or local to checkout her flavors of Africa. She reminded me to not touch the food while it cooks to just allow the magic to happen organically. Looking forward to the cooking experience again and recreating some of her meals recommended.
