Overview

Hike to one of the most amazing top views of Rio combined with a tour through the favela of Vidigal that has become a flourishing attraction.

Following pick-up at your place, the guide drives you to Vidigal favela where the journey begins. We then take a moto-taxi ride up to the top to reach the entrance of the trail. From there, the hike is 1,5km of route in 1 h each way, ranging from light to medium level of difficulty, to the top with several viewpoints to appreciate and rest. From the top, enjoy the sweeping vista over Ipanema, São Conrado beach and Rocinha favela.

After some time to walk around and take photos, we make the way back down walking through Vidigal favela. Stop by at businesses and chat with locals to get a sense of the community while listening to your guide's insights.

After all that, visitors may want to have a superb typical Brazilian food.

This is a socially-conscious tour that the majority of the payment is reverted to the resident guide that hosts the visit

What To Expect

Morro Dois Irmaos

The adventure begins at the entrance of Vidigal favela. Two Brothers hills are atop of Vidigal community that we get across before reaching the beginning of the trail. We take a 10-minute moto-taxi ride to drop us off at the key point to start the trail, saving energy only for the trail.

A simple trail, with little difficulty, but well inclined in some parts, is made in an average time of 50 min to 1 h. Follow your local guide to the top of the trail leading to the highest of the two hills for spectacular views of Rio with incredible viewpoints of sceneries spanning along all the vastness of the valleys, lakes, mountains laying all beside the ocean, locations ideal for photos and contemplation.

Vidigal

On the way down, walk through Vidigal favela. Interact with the local residents and see the reality of the favela up close walking through the alleys to experience the community and a unique culture.

For culture-vultures, Vidigal’s street art scene is amazing. Whole walls are free canvases for talented Rio artists who use Vidigal as a creative studio. Keep an eye out for Marcelo Ment’s artwork that features a beautiful woman’s face with colorful hair.

The Laje bar is located between the sea and the mountain and has one of the most breathtaking views in the city. At the top of Vidigal, the Bar da Laje is framed by the Two Brothers hill and has the sea at its feet. This marvelous scenery attracts from artists and soccer players to foreigners and Brazilian tourists, in addition to locals, with regional snacks, drinks and live music.

Mirante Do Arvrao

Visit the Arvrão viewpoint which is at the top of Vidigal. The space draws attention due to a tree that is so big that it can be seen from the asphalt.

The Arvrão viewpoint gives access to one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the city. The space, formed by a square and a deck, reveals a privileged view of the mesmerizing oceanic immensity of the beaches of Ipanema, Leblon, Arpoador and a stretch of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
