The Little Africa Tour - African Heritage highlights places about Black people in Rio de Janeiro. The tour takes places in one of the African Diaspora Route in the worldwide, being part of Slavery Route Project by Unesco. The narrative is decolonial and educational. The route highlights the most important harbour for Slavery System in the past: The Valongo Wharf Archaeological Site that was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2017. The Valongo Wharf Archaeological Site comprises the globally most significant remains of a landing point of enslaved Africans in the Americas. An estimated 900,000 Africans arrived in South America via Valongo.
It's a memory tour about history, pain, struggles and despite all about the resistance of the African Brazilian people. They reinvented themselves into Diaspora world influencing the civilizing values, and also built the national identity so important and notable to Brazil.
