Fabulous Petropolis

We had a wonderful experience on this tour to Petropolis. Marcelo was great. He reached out to us prior to the trip and helped set up the pick up etc. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history of Brasil and Petropolis. He kept the teenagers engaged too. Was able to suggest places to lunch and coffee and we went to an excellent chocolate and coffee café. They were on time and adjusted the tour according to our family interest and needs.
The city is worth visiting with wonderful architecture and history. Very Quaint.

Overall an excellent tour and we highly recommend this. Thank you Marcelo.

Petropolis is a must-see!!!

I highly recommend this tour. Petropolis is truly a hidden gem, it’s charming and has a very unique architecture. Marcello is a wonderful guide. He is very knowledgeable and, I learnt a lot not only about Petropolis but also about the history of Brazil. The casino palace has the most exquisite interior, and I found chandeliers particularly impressive. Overall I can’t say enough good things about this tour. We had lunch at local brewery and both the food and beer was just delicious.

Petropolis is worth the visit!

When I was younger, I spent time in Rio learning Portuguese, and my sponsor family always told me that I should visit Petropolis. Unfortunately, I just never had the time, so when I had the chance to go back to Rio with my wife, I made sure that we scheduled some time to visit Petropolis, and I'm so glad that we did. Petropolis is an excellent day trip from Rio, and steeped in history. The highlight is the Imperial Museum, of course, but there is so much more to see and do in Petropolis, including many historic homes, churches and cathedrals, an old casino, and surprisingly, a number of fantastic breweries. We booked a private tour, and we couldn't have been happier with our tour guide, Marcello. He and his driver picked us up from our Copacabana hotel promptly at nine, and spent the whole day with us. There were no language issues, and we felt very safe and comfortable throughout the experience. Marcello mentioned to me that his goal is to make Petropolis more well-known and accessible, as it's been his experience that although Petropolis is a very popular destination among Brazilians, it isn't particularly well known to visitors from abroad. I told him that was a shame, since it was highly recommended to me by my sponsor family so many years ago, and that I was really glad my wife and I found the time to take the trip to Petropolis.

Had an amazing time with Rafael! Very nice, polite, and well spoken! Was on time and kept to schedule. Very knowledgeable about sites including history, architecture, and culture. As a solo female travel made me feel very safe! Would highly recommend!

Rio to Petropolis private tour

This tour was the highlight of our stay in Rio. The driver (Junior) and tour guide (Rafael) were exceptional! They picked us up right on time in our hotel lobby - located in the Ipanema beach area; and the drive to Petropolis took just over an hour. The scenery on the way there is lovely, and Rafael was very good at explaining the history and highlights of Petropolis, Rio, and the surrounding area.
Petropolis is beautiful and is unspoiled with no crowds or lines when we were there. This is a ‘must see’ when in Rio!
Rafael stayed with us the entire time, and I felt very safe and comfortable the entire tour. Great value for the money!
