Mirante Dona Marta

From the top of its 360m, Mirante Dona Marta provides one of the most incredible views of the city, guaranteeing the title of one of the most visited tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro. From there, you can see Sugarloaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer, Maracanã, Guanabara Bay and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.

Corcovado - Christ the Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer is an art deco statue depicting Jesus Christ, located at the top of Corcovado Hill, 709 meters above sea level, overlooking a considerable part of the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. Made of reinforced concrete and soapstone, it is thirty meters high (one of the largest statues in the world), not counting the eight meters of the pedestal. Its arms stretch 28 meters wide and the structure weighs 1145 tons.

The monument is part of a Catholic shrine and the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro manages the statue and the viewpoint plateau, as well as being responsible for maintenance and celebrations in the area.

Escadaria Selaron

In 1990, Jorge Selarón began to renovate some steps of the staircase, which was in a bad state of repair and which passes in front of his house. At first, neighbors scoffed at the bizarre combinations of colors as he mixed the steps with pieces of blue, green and yellow tiles, the colors of the Brazilian flag.
