Come with me on a free walking tour of Rocinha, the largest favela in Latin America, and learn what life is like here.
You will walk through the neighborhood while your guide tells the story of the community and how it has developed, from the beginning to today. Following the same paths, the locals walk every day, you will experience the scenes and culture of this vibrant, friendly neighborhood. You will visit a supermarket and other local businesses, and see social projects that benefit the community. You will also see incredible views from the high hilltop and take pictures.
You will need to bring money, for donations to community charities, viewpoints, souvenirs, and Moto-taxi.

It’s an absolute misconception to think of favelas as this red flag, or a spot you should never come close to, and Caio really proved this. It was super safe (and they usually are in any case, especially for tourists), but you’d still want a guide like Caio to walk you through all the interesting stuff - mototaxi to the way up, background and history, and of course an amazing experience on the way down. You’ll see peoples houses, the local dynamic commerce, get to buy smth unique from local artists, and go off-road for something super one of a kind (let’s leave this as a tease).
And the coolest part is that Caio knows a lot of people inside, so you’ll get into an absolutely friendly and safe atmosphere while enjoying some of the most beautiful views on Rio (Rocinha is located in some of the top spots so you’ll see some mesmerising views).
Absolutely recommended for anyone who’s in Rio for even the shortest time :)
